Since I got my "used" HP iPac 2215 off of ebay I've been enjoying MS Reader files (books) on it to replace having to carry a novel or two everywhere I go.  I have been looking into how to get some text files and pdf ones into the same format when i came across a plug-in for Word that might do the trick (read about "Read in Microsoft Reader" here).

.:new edit:.
Well I tried it out, it's a little green button on the toolbar that I recognize distinctly as MSReader.  "Custom Cover Pages" and a quick Google "Images" search coupled with a little quick resizing worked like a charm.  Then I needed to learn how to make a "Table of Contents" in MS Word so that it would transfer over to the *.lit file.  Then I'll be able to put in all the Chapters and henceforth be able to navigate within MSReader much more effectively.  (read how to make a ToC in Word here).

was "Orchid member on TV news"

I could not agree more about not taking this out on your local jeweler /diamond merchant. I also agree that the way De Beers and the Diamond Syndicate conduct business is a big part of the problem. It is also true that the diamond trade is not supply / demand based. In fact site holders are given a parcel and it is a take it or leave it proposition. If you leave it you will probably lose your site. All this is true but it is still a customer demand business. If no one wanted to buy diamonds there would be no one for the salesmen to sell to. It is as simple as that. The whole idea of "A Diamond is forever" and "Diamonds are a girls best friend" is a well ran all be it a very expensive marketing campaign. I wonder how many Diamonds De Beers could sell if the truth of the diamonds mystic was shown to be the colossal fraud that it is. Diamond is carbon based Carbon same as coal, graphite, or even charcoal, and most all life forms on this planet. With out carbon we would not exist therefore it must be plentiful. In GE's Labs they have made diamonds out of such things as peanut butter. When was the last time you paid $1,200.00 a carat for a second or third rate peanut butter, or charcoal. The only true value of a diamond is in its industrial applications. What can you do with say I 5 to 10 Carat Flawless diamond. Can you readily convert it to cash at full retail value? What happens to its' value if tomorrow the Diamond Syndicate and De Beers both fall and the Diamond goes to a true supply and demand base? As long as there is an artificial value placed on this mineral, and as long as a person can make money smuggling, stealing, or even legitimately selling this mineral the bloody and negative activities surrounding the acquisition of diamonds will continue. Maybe at 63 years of age I'm becoming the discontented personage that attached itself to the baby boomers. You know the "make love not war" types. The Lost Generation, I didn't belong to it then, in the 60's, I was off serving my country. But now the bug has bit. Just throwing out to see if anyone bites. To all of you depending on your faith. Merry Christmas, Happy Chanuka, a Joyous Kwanzaa or just have a Cool Joel.

I was watching "Done the Impossible" a Firefly fan flick and they spoke of a fanfiction where Kailey sneaks in a cat onto Serenity and they are all trying to keep it hidden from Mal due to his "No Pets!" policy.  Now I'm watching Bad Girls Season 3 Episode 6 and the two Julia's just found the cutest 'lil black cat (Tinka) by the trash bins of the prison ... I sure they could borrow from each other for depth.

I don't know, I think I may have to be commited ... maybe a little electroshock therapy wouldn't be such a bad idea after all ... a reality TV show that didn't make me want to sing the demise of our society.

Maybe twenty odd years ago I was exposed to some reality TV from Japan and was appalled.  I had watched game shows all my life, to a varying degree of interest, not having much in way of choice for day time TV I can console myself with the concept of beggars can't be choosers, but Reality TV was taking it simply too far.  The Running Man, when I first saw the movie I was reminded of the Japanese shows I had earlier glipsed and understood to a varying degree what the writers were trying to say.  There is a new series coming out, basically random folk faced with terrible danger begin to exhibit super powers.  When I downloaded the first two episodes of "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" it's what I thought I was getting.  Down to very few shows left to watch, already through my Millennium re-run fix, having seen all the Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King and more I opted to run those "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" episodes and I thought my standard fight and flee response to Reality TV, but it being midnight and I can't sleep I watched them anyhow.  I'm not a huge Comic fan (okay I'm not a comic fan, but I've been enjoying the TV series and movies that exist and continue to be prodiced), but Stan Lee is pretty cool.  Stripperella series that he did for Spike TV was silly as all get out, but I still watched it (well I had it downloaded anyhow), and I've heard his voice forever, so I was predisposed to liking that aspect.  I barely watched the second episode, but unfortunately I did, and although I wouldn't say I'm hooked, but it did make it likely that I'll watch the other ones that come out.  You have a similar Big Brother house scenario, but they're out in the public at times in the superhero costumes ... I'm big into Mind's Eye Theatre, but staying in character around civilians would be a hard task ... embarrassing, these people are doing a great job.  Stan Lee is not able to test 'their super powers', but he is testing the moral fortitude, personal integrety, and general 'superhero' characteristics, or at least those he feels should be found in a superhero (as creator of Spider-Man, The X-Men, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, and more, we can call him an authority on the matter).  There was a bad attitude 'roid monkey that was really failling and pretty much was all the big gun on his arm part of his costume, and the general bad attitude "I'm not here to make friends, just win the prize" type of thing.  Three times on the chopping block he finally gets canned.  He's all bumed when he gets waylaid with the opportunity to become the TV Shows first 'super villain'!  He's so on board, and as far as things go will most likely make a good one.  He has a chip on his shoulder, even Fat Momma wasn't said to see him go, and so they'll be going into episode three with:

  • Tobias Trost
  • Role: Levity
  • Reason for cut: Owns a toy store and makes action figures, was hoping to cash-in.  Stan's ROTIART infiltrator rooted this out (Traitor backwards)
  • Darren Passarello
  • Role: Nitro G
  • Reason for cut: Not only didn't notice the crying girl while racing to the finish line and stop to help, but change into his constume where everyone could see him.
  • Chelsea Weld
  • Role: Cell Phone Girl
  • Reason for cut:  Lasted 4 seconds in the "Courage" test--two attack guards try to stop you from reaching the backdoor of an old lady's house who "has locked herself out", and blamed giving up so quickly on a headache, and continued with this excuse and whin scenario on the chopping block.  She'll be missed, but of the three up there she's the one to go.  Of course working the honesty angle, and admitting her fears of dogs haven bit by one before, she most likely could have pulled through ... could've been a fine example of a superheroe's weakness :)
  • Steel Chambers
  • Role: Iron Enforcer
  • Reason for cut:  Make-over didn't go well, maybe it's just that superheroes don't kill people, and Stan simply can't get into that huge gun.

Ton of actors that I recognize, some recent, some I haven't seen in awhile.  Some of note to me at least.  From:

Bruce from The Dead Zone: John L. Adams
Abbie from Law & Order: Angie Harmon
Dr. Christian Shephard from Lost: John Terry

I'm sure there's others, like Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down Brian Van Holt, but they were the only ones that really stood out right away for me.  It's hard to cast known actors as you keep on seeing them in the former roles, but the acting is top notch, definitely a Pilot owrth watching, but there's been a ton that fall into that category ... I hope they get picked up:
  • Secrets Of A Small Town
  • Jericho
  • Aquaman
  • Our Thirties (only so-so IMO)
New shows to me that I like:
  • Sorted
  • Eureka
  • Blade The Series
  • Angela's Eyes
  • Psych
  • Touching Evil
  • Windfall
  • Mighty Boosh (super silly)
  • Saved
  • Brotherhood
  • Nightmares & Dreamscapes

Your EQ is 100

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.

Paradox
You scored 40 Socially Involved, 31 Alienated, 40 Contented and 33 Optimistic

Somehow,
you managed to be quite socially discontented yet not alienated to others and/or your surroundings. Your social involvement score is low, meaning that you're apparently not highly social. The conjunction of these facts likely means that you're not significantly alienated to a certain group of persons/environments (e.g., a few close friends, a parent, or the natural world) while you are alienated to a group of different persons/environments -- in just such a way that alienation to the other group critically lowers your level of contentment.

Your optimism score is fairly low as well, which is probably the result of your current feelings of discontentment. You may want to consider a non-serious relationship with someone whose company you nonetheless enjoy. This could raise your contentment score and your self-confidence, while at the same time, not potentially resulting in a painful rejection. So, a non-serious relationship seems like a safe bet with potentially high returns.
